The Tudor Heritage Black Bay Steel is the latest diver within the Heritage Black Bay collection. And it is the first in the collection with date. Which makes it just a little less expensive than the Tudor Heritage Black Day Bronze.

Inside the Tudor Heritage Black Bay Steel is an updated version of Tudor’s caliber MT5602: the caliber MT5612 with date function. The other specifications are the same: bidirectional rotor system, COSC Chronometer certified and a power-reserve of 70 hours.

The Tudor Heritage Black Bay Steel is modern diver with roots in the 1950s

The design of the watch is inspired by 1050s and 1960s models, mostly divers. The shape, the case and the domed sapphire can be found on Tudor’s divers form the 1950s, known for their big crowns. The snowflake hands come from the 1970s. And the whole model kind of celebrates 60 years of Tudor divers as they launched their first model (reference 7922) in 1954.

It’s solid, not too big (41 millimeters), retro and features a modern movement. A popular combination for an acceptable price. Although we would go for the bronze version, despite the absence of a date function.
