Montblanc is introducing three new variants of the Star Legacy collection and one of them is this Montblanc Star Legacy Automatic Date 39mm Limited Edition. It has the most minimalist design among the three with just a date-window at 6 o’clock. The other two models are a chronograph in 42 millimeters and a moon phase with the same size.

This dress watch styled time-date features a 39-millimeters case from stainless steel. The dial, which is the special part of the watch, displays a grey glacier pattern, a sort of Mont Blanc (the mountain) pattern. This color, that can change a bit to black depending on the light, is the same as the rocks of the Mont Blanc glacier. Furthermore, the watch has rose gold-coated leaf-shaped hour and minute hands and matching rose gold-coated Arabic numerals. The “baton”-shaped seconds hand with Montblanc emblem on its counterweight is also rose gold-coated.

Inside is the automatic Montblanc caliber MB 24.17 which can be admired through its domed sapphire case back. It delivers a power reserve of 38 hours.

The Montblanc Star Legacy Automatic Date 39mm Limited Edition comes on an interchangeable Sfumato grey calf leather strap with alligator print. Closed by a stainless steel pin buckle. And it is a (sort of) limited edition of 1,786 pieces, which refers to the year that mountaineer Jacques Balmat did his first ascent of the Mont Blanc. That was on the 8^th of August in 1786 to be precise, and Jacques Balmat (1762–1834) obtained the honorary title Balmat du Mont Blanc for this. By the way, he did this first ascend, also the first of the Mont Blanc ever, together with physician Michel-Gabriel Paccard.
