Another two variants join the DS PH collection with the newest Certina DS Super PH1000M. It is the diver line of the Swiss brand, and already has some PH200M and PH500M models. Where the 200M and 500M stands for the depth in meters to which you can take your watch. So the new one can go up to a 1,000 meters.
The design of the new DS is based on the Certina DS-2 Super PH1000M from the 1970s. Well, it is not only based on it, it looks almost similar. The original was available in orange and black, this new vintage one as well. The black is an unlimited edition, the orange is limited to 1,000 pieces. The new PH1000M comes on a black rubber strap or a textile strap made of #tide ocean material. Which is recycled stuff.
The Certina DS Super PH1000M has a power reserve of 80 hours
This new model is featured in a 43.50 x 42-millimeter stainless steel tonneau-shaped case with a unidirectional bezel. The fluted bezel has an aluminum ring and indices with super-luminova. The dial is either full orange with white indices or black with orange accents. There is a date window at 3 o’clock and it has a screw-down crown and a helium outlet valve at the 9 o’clock position.
Inside Certina DS Super PH1000M is an automatic ETA Powermatic 80.611 which delivers a power reserve of 80 hours. It is equipped with a nivachron balance spring and offers a serious resistance against magnetic fields. Moreover, it is very friendly prices for an automatic diver with these specs and a cool retro design.
