The first Odysseus collection started in 2019 and now their newest model is released, the A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus Chronograph Stainless Steel. And this one has a newly developed L156.1 calibre enclosed in the stainless steel case.

No doubts at all, this is an A. Lange & Söhne watch. It has the signature big day & date and the open structure of the dial which somehow makes the watch look bigger than it is. It’s a German made watch, so they use untreated German silver for elements as the bridges and plates.

The special thing about this A. Lange & Sohne Odysseus Chronograph is, like the name already reveals, its chronograph. It is the brand’s first automatic chronograph movement. They call it the L156.1 Datomatic calibre, from the words Date and Automatic and like all Lange movements it is assembled twice before a watch finds its way to a customer. Just to be sure all parts are working as they should. Speaking about parts, many of them cannot be seen, but they are still finished by hand.

Through the transparent case back you can see the skeletonized and partially black-rhodiumed central rotor with a centrifugal mass in platinum for efficient winding. The movement offers a power reserve of 50 hours.

On the 42.5-millimeter brass black dial you will find hours and minutes, day and date, plus the chronograph central seconds and minute hand. The first is in red, the latter in white. The chronograph has a dynamic reset-to-zero function so the chrono-hands will spin back to 12 at full speed when you reset it. The dial is supported with a palladium-colored flange ring carved with a minute scale for clear readability.

The company doesn’t supply a price for the A. Lange & Sohne Odysseus Chronograph, it is only available exclusively at A. Lange & Söhne boutiques and the watch is limited to 100 pieces.
