The Zenith Pilot Big Date Flyback Blue is a new version within the new Pilot collection of the Swiss brand. It is basically the same watch as the Zenith Pilot Big Date Flyback in black, but with some subtle differences. Well, only one subtle difference, the color of the dial.
The black edition is available in stainless steel and black ceramic, this blue version comes in stainless steel only. The set-up of the dial is the same however the color of the dial is a nice, deep blue. Hands, indexes and numerals, all easy to read because it is a pilot watch, are executed in white. From which the essential elements have a super-luminova coating.
The crown is over-sized and the pushers are large, which are details vintage pilot watches had to make operation with gloves doable. And not only the crown, hands and numerals are large, so is the date window. It is positioned at 6 o’clock.
The Zenith Pilot Big Date Flyback Blue has a power reserve of 60 hours
Visible through its transparent sapphire case back is an automatic Zenith caliber El Primero 3652 SC. The oscillating rotor, resembling an “artificial horizon,” is also visible. The movement is equipped with a flyback chronograph which allows the user to quickly stop, reset, and restart it with a single push of a button. This feature is particularly useful for timing events in rapid succession. It delivers a power reserve of 60 hours.
The Zenith Pilot Big Date Flyback Blue comes with a blue “Cordura” effect rubber strap and includes an extra brown calfskin leather strap. It has a quick-release system for an easy swap of the straps and it is secured with a folding clasp. If you like the color but you don’t want a chronograph, take a look at the Zenith Pilot Automatic Blue. Which is 2.5 millimeter smaller as well. Both models are “boutique only” which means you can buy them only or in one of Zenith’s boutiques.
