The Zenith Pilot Automatic Blue is a follow-up of the earlier introduced black Pilot time-date models. But where the black is available in stainless steel or black ceramic, this new Blue is only available in stainless steel. The same goes for its chronograph brother, the Zenith Pilot Big Date Flyback. That model is also available in blue with a stainless steel case now.

This Pilot Automatic Blue is executed in a 40-millimeter round-shaped case. It sports a flat bezel, satin-brushed vertically, with polished chamfers. Most pilot watches typically have a vintage-inspired design, often reminiscent of early aviation instruments. Like this models as well, with large, easy-to-read numerals and hands, as well as an oversized crown. Easy to operate while wearing gloves.

The Pilot Automatic has blue horizontal grooves, reminiscent of the corrugated metal sheets used in older aircraft fuselages. Plus, a tiny date window at 6 o’clock.

The Zenith Pilot Automatic Blue has a power reserve of 60 hours

Underneath runs the automatic Zenith caliber El Primero 3620 SC (Seconde Centrale) revealed through its see-through sapphire case back. It stays powered for 60 hours thanks to a blackened spinning weight that looks like a dashboard gauge called an “artificial horizon”. An instrument telling pilots how the aircraft is positioned compared to the Earth’s horizon.

The Zenith Pilot Automatic Blue comes on a Blue “Cordura” effect rubber strap, with an additional brown calfskin leather strap. You can effortlessly swap it out using the strap’s quick-release system, and no tools are needed. Both are secured with a folding clasp.
