In 1969 Zenith launched their El Primero 36’000 VpH featuring a high-beat chronograph for better precision. Since then this chronograph became one of the most popular models of Zenith. The launch of this new Zenith El Primero 36000 VpH black and white, in fact two models, underlines this success.

The model comes in two panda dial designs: one with a sunray-patterned ebony black dial and one with a white silver-toned base dial. Zenith calls this dial lay-out ‘chiaroscuro three-counter dial’, referring to a painting technique that uses strong tonal contrasts between light and dark to model three-dimensional forms. These kind of color schemes were very popular in the 1970s and they seem to regain popularity these days.

The 42-millimeter case is from black ceramicised aluminium which we’ve seen on more Zenith models. Like the recently released Zenith El Primero Range Rover Special Edition.

It supplies a power-reserve of over 50 hours.
