A 2024 Daytona, the Rolex Daytona Mother-of-pearl Gem-set White gold is a new variant of the renewed chronograph. What started as a basic yet excellent tool watch with racing roots has partly changed to shiny bold models, still excellent though. It will not be everyone’s cup of tea but apparently there is a market for these “special” Daytona’s too. However, the contrast with a “regular” Rolex Daytona 100th 24 Hours of Le Mans Edition for example is remarkable.

These two new references 126579 RBR and 126589 RBR are both executed in a 40-millimeter white gold case. And both have a white gold bezel full of diamonds, 36 in total. And 8 more diamonds can be found on the dial as hour markers, set in white gold markers. The dial itself is from mother-of-pearl (MOP) and comes in either white with black sub dials or black with white sub dials. The hands are also from white gold.

The Rolex Daytona Mother-of-pearl Gem-set White gold has a power reserve of 72 hours

This MOP Daytona runs on the Rolex caliber 4131, an in-house automatic movement with column-wheel chronograph and vertical clutch. It has Côtes de Genève decoration, although not visible, and it’s COSC certified plus Rolex certification after casing. The power reserve is 72 hours.

The Rolex Daytona Mother-of-pearl Gem-set White gold comes on a black rubber strap (Oysterflex) or a whit gold 3-link bracelet (Oyster). The version with white gold bracelet retails for about 10k more.

If you want to know more about the first Daytona’s, read the article about the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Paul Newman Ref. 6239. It was even the most expensive watch in the world for a while.
