Ralph Lauren is mostly known for its polo shirts and all-American style. Less known, especially in Europe, are their high-end watches. The newest one is the Ralph Lauren Minute Repeater.

When Ralph Lauren started with watches it was made clear this was going to be more than just a fashionable accessory. The watches are high-end, handmade and use movements from some of the biggest players on the market.

Entry level watches are produced with the more than capable Sellita calibers, but the high-end ones carry a movement from the Richemont Group. For example from IWC and Jaeger-LeCoultre.

For this minute repeater they use a company called La Fabrique du Temps. Owned by Louis Vuitton, that’s why the Louis Vuitton Escale Minute Repeater Worldtimer is pretty identical to the lay-out of the RL888, the movement used in this minute repeater.

The Ralph Lauren Minute Repeater is only made to order

This is no breaking news. Ralph Lauren never claimed to be a manufacture. And the use of movements from other brands or ‘borrowing’ some technology is more widespread in the industry than you think. This Ralph Lauren this Ralph Lauren RL Automotive Double Tourbillon is a great example of that.

Besides the exquisite minute repeater complication, one of our favorites, the 18-carat white gold case is perfectly made with a guilloché bezel and guilloché dial.

The minimalistic dial offers only hours, minutes and small seconds at 6 o’clock. To the left and right of the small seconds we read ‘minute repeater’. Why is that, on such a clean detailed dial? We find it a little on the nose for such an expensive timepiece. Showing or hearing the complication should suffice.

The Ralph Lauren Minute Repeater cannot be picked up very easily, it is only made to order for a hefty price of $ 206.000.
