No, this watch is not based on the old Australian hit tv-series The Flying Docters, but on the real life Australian rescue service. Oris honors this service with a second limited edition: the Oris Royal Flying Doctor Service Limited Edition II.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service provides basic and emergency medical assistance to those living on the isolated Australian countryside. Oris already collaborated with the non-profit organization in 2013 with a limited edition and now they do it once again.

The Oris Royal Flying Doctor Service Limited Edition II is based on the Big Crown line-up. Inside the watch we find Oris’ caliber 735 (based on the Sellita SW220-1). Both the date and the days of the week are displayed on the dial. The hands and the hour markers have been treated with white super-luminova. The case is made of stainless steel and measures 45 millimeters in diameter. The case back features an embossed Royal Flying Doctors logo and the limited edition number.
A feature that deserves some extra attention is the pulsometer scale in deep orange around the side of the dial. The pulsometer being a way to measure a patient’s heartbeat. Align the scale with the seconds hand, count twenty heartbeats and you get the correct pulse. The bi-directional bezel can also be used to set up a second time zone.
The Oris Royal Flying Doctor Service Limited Edition II is limited to 2,000 pieces. It comes in a luxurious wooden presentation box, with an engraved medal with the logo of the service.
