The Nomos Orion Neomatik New Black and 39 New Black join the Orion collection as a part of three new versions that are released. Two of them are described here as they share the movement and only differ in size. They both offer a time-only set-up with small seconds. The third model, the Nomos Orion Neomatik 41 Date New Black has a date indication as well.

The basic Orion Neomatik New Black comes with a diameter of 36.4 or 38.5 millimeters. Now the 36.4 is the Orion Neomatik New Black, and the 38.5 is the Orion Neomatik 39 New Black. Some people might become a bit nervous by this incongruity, even more when they know that the 41 Date version is actually 40.5 millimeters. But the design can have a calming effect.

Minimalistic and slim design

Both New Blacks have this typical minimalistic Nomos design, with a time-only lay-out, added with small seconds. The round case is from stainless steel with domed sapphire crystal and has a slim silhouette. As the movement is very slim with 3.2 millimeters, the thickness of the watch is only 8.5 or 8.7 millimeters.

The black dial showcases rhodium-plated hands and stamped indexes that are diamond-polished and rhodium-plated. Gold colored for the 36.4-millimeter version and silver colored for the 38.5-millimeter. On the edge of the dial is a minute track. The small seconds sub dial is formed by a 5-seconds interval track.

The Nomos Orion Neomatik New Black and 39 New Black have a power reserve of 43 hours

The “Neomatik” designation indicates the use of a self-winding movement, which is the in-house Nomos caliber DUW 3001. Ultra-thin offering a power reserve of 43 hours. Visible through its transparent sapphire case back is the movements meticulous finishing, including Glashütte ribbing, perlage, and other decorative elements.

The Nomos Orion Neomatik New Black and 39 New Black come on a black horween genuine shell cordovan leather strap.
