The inspiration for the new Graham Chronofighter Vintage Aircraft Ltd stems from military aircrafts from the 1940s. And gunmetal grey interiors of New York lofts. Okay, not much focus here design-wise, but the new Graham is brilliant if you want something that’s ‘out there’.
‘Edgy nostalgia’ they call it. But, as with many other ‘inspired’ watches, the only real reference to its inspiration is the RAF Halifax aircraft stamped on the back. And only for the reference 2CVAV.B17A. It is one of four limited editions (the first on the photo’s below). The other three models have a see-through case back.
The Graham Chronofighter Vintage Aircraft Ltd also comes with denim straps
It’s very easy to get cynical, but we must admit, the gunmetal cases and stamped like dials – just like the riveted exteriors of old fighters – look quite good if you can accept the bold looks.
And the specs aren’t too bad either for this latest addition to the Chronofighter family. Graham’s own (Valjoux based) caliber G1747 is a trusty automatic and the chronograph with the start/stop trigger is a nice addition and something different than a regular chronograph set-up.
The only thing that we can’t quite get our head around is the version with the denim strap. But perhaps that’s the version you like.
