The new Alpina Alpiner 4 GMT Business Timer offers the Alpina concept of “4” meaning the time piece is anti-magnetic, anti-shock, water-resistant (100 metres) and stainless. About anti-magnetism, the watches are certified according to the ISO 764 norm. This specifies that a watch must resist exposition to a direct current magnetic field of 4 800 A/m without any impact on its accuracy. Regarding the anti-shock properties, the Alpina Alpiner 4 GMT Business Timer certifies to the ISO 1413 standard. Right, it can handle some extreme circumstances.

Did you notice the text on the dial of the Alpina Alpiner 4 GMT Business Timer?

h2-line
The watch features a 44-millimetre stainless case and is powered by the Alpina AL-550 “Jumping Hour” GMT movement. Unchanged from the model from two years ago. It is Sellita based (SW 200) but was adapted by the Alpina watchmakers. The movement now enables you to independently adjust the hour hand from one hour to another, while the 24-hour hand always displays home time.

Alpina Alpiner 4 GMT Business Timer side

The Alpina Alpiner 4 GMT Business Timer comes with a red and blue decorated 24-hour scale indicating business hours on location and home. Or as Alpina refers to it: a “Pepsi” colour scheme. A term linked to the Rolex GMT-Master II and mostly used for watches with a red-blue coloured flange ring or bezel. Two models will debut the Alpina Alpiner 4 GMT Business Timer, a black and a silver dialled version.

Last but not least: what about the bold statement “Ice Legacy Believe – Preserve – Transmit” on the dial? The press release reveals nothing about the remarkable dial text but online the Alpina website tells us something. About Alpina’s partnership with polar explorers Borge Ousland and Vincent Colliard. For their “Ice Legacy” project the two explorers plan to cross the 20 largest glaciers over the next 10 years. This to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the glaciers and ancestral ice. With the dial text Alpina seems to close their end of the deal.
