The TAG Heuer Carrera Ring Master Calibre 5 Muhammad Ali honors the most legendary boxer of all time. Cassius Marcellus Clay, later known as Muhammad Ali (17 January 1942 – 3 June 2016). At Gleason’s Gym, Brooklyn’s legendary boxing club and Muhammad Ali’s old training ground, TAG Heuer unveiled a special edition watch to pay tribute to Muhammad Ali.

The new watch is inspired by the 1950s Ring-Master stopwatches. These had interchangeable rings for timing different sports, including boxing. For decades, heavy weight championship fights were scheduled for 15 rounds of 3 minutes each, with a break of one minute between them. Today, the rules changed to 12 rounds, to make the sport a little bit more healthy. We think. And women championship fights are ten rounds or fewer, each lasting 2 minutes.

To time boxing matches use the crown at 10 o’clock to rotate the internal red/black rotating bezel. Move the number #1 sector in front of the minute hand at the start of a fight and you can keep track of the elapsed time. The inner black/white fixed scale allows you to keep track of fights with a shorter duration (2 minutes, 15 rounds) just like in the original 1950s model.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Ring Master Calibre 5 Muhammad Ali is limited to 750 pieces. And there is one gold version

Inside the TAG Heuer Carrera Ring Master Calibre 5 Muhammad Ali is the Sellita SW200 based caliber 5. An automatic that provides 38 hours of power-reserve. The watch is limited to 750 pieces in steel, but there is also one unique gold piece. This one was auctioned during the event to benefit the Muhammad Ali Center and all of the proceeds of the sale were directed to them. The gold one was hammered at $ 88,000 and bought by Jean Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer. Below the specs a clip of the TAG Heuer Carrera Ring Master Calibre 5 Muhammad Ali.
