Somehow diamonds and watches have a traditional connection and this TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Diamant d’Avant-Garde Chronograph Tourbillon is another proof of that. The most special thing about it, among other special elements, are that the diamonds are lab-grown. Instead of mining them, you can also grow them. Which is also the avant-garde part of the watch. As TAG wants to be ahead of the troops, in a fashionable way.

The watch looks futuristic and bold and shiny at the same time as the diamonds are literally all over the watch. The dial, bezel, case, crown and even the bracelet bears them. The 44-millimeter black sandblasted anodized aluminum case is set with 48 diamonds, in total 4.3 carats. Remember that 1 carat is 20 grams of diamond. The fixed bezel has 26 diamonds (1.9 carats) and the crown is just one big diamond (2.5 carats).

The TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Diamant d’Avant-Garde Chronograph Tourbillon is over the top, but can be seen as a showcase of modern watch production

The Plasma Diamant d’Avant-Garde has a polycrystalline diamond plate dial. On the dial there are 11 white gold indexes which are set with a diamond. And the two sub-counters are also made from polycrystalline diamond plates. In total the dial has 4.9 carats of diamonds. And let’s not forget the 34 diamonds on the bracelet, with a total weight of 1.9 carats. The hour and minute hands are rhodium-plated with matte black lacquer. Of course they have super-luminova (white), but no diamonds here. Well, aren’t there enough already?

Inside the TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Diamant d’Avant-Garde Chronograph Tourbillon is the automatic caliber Heuer 02T Nanograph, It has a carbon nanotube hairspring and it’s COSC certified. Furthermore, the power reserve is 65 hours.

So much diamonds, even thought they are lab-grown, and a chronograph and a tourbillon, comes with a price. You will get 124 diamonds in total, with a total weight of 15.5 carats and it’s yours for 500.000 Swiss francs.
