The Tank line-up by Cartier gets a fresh-up, so we show you the Cartier Tank Américaine Large Model 2023, as we think it is the most suitable watch for you. Why? Well, it has e decent size and it is an automatic, while the smaller models – 28 and 35.4 millimeter in height – have a quartz movement. Nothing wrong with that, but the case sizes are typically for woman.

The new Large Model measures 44.4 x 24.4 millimeter with a case thickness of 8.6 millimeters. The previous Large Model with reference WSTA0045 for the steel version and WGTA0047 for the rose gold version is a little bigger. That one measures 45.10 mm x 26.60 mm, with a thickness of 9.81 mm. So the new model is a little smaller, and becomes a little more expensive. And Cartier dropped the central seconds hand, so it has only hours and minutes now.

Watch lovers all know the Cartier Tank. It’s 106 years old, launched in 1917. Only in 1987, the Tank Américaine was designed, and launched in 1989. Featuring a curved, slim-shaped water-resistant case. It evolved over time, but with small steps.

The new Cartier Tank Américaine Large Model 2023 will be available with a stainless steel or pink gold case. It has a silver satin-brushed dial with enlarged Roman numerals to indicate the hours and the rounded railroad track for the minutes. Both have the blued-steel sword-shaped hands and a crown with a blue faceted sapphire for the pink gold and a crown with a blue faceted synthetic blue spinel for the steel one.

Inside is an automatic Cartier caliber 1899 MC which provides a 40-hour power reserve. The 18k pink gold timepiece comes on a grey alligator-skin strap with interchangeable rose gold folding buckle while the stainless steel version comes on a dark blue alligator strap with interchangeable steel folding buckle. The models will be available in September 2023.
