Ressence Type 1 MRP (Mr. Porter)

A watch needs to have some power of persuasion to get us impressed. The Ressence Type 1 succeeds in this with just its dial. Now the Belgian brand introduces an edition exclusively for online retailer Mr. Porter. The Ressence Type 1 MRP.

The Ressence Type 1 MRP (Mr. Porter) comes in two varieties. A limited edition of 12 pieces in polished titanium with a night blue metallic dial. And a limited edition of 6 pieces in pink gold and a sandblasted white dial. The model is based on the Ressence Type 1, like this version as well.

Both in 42-millimeter cases with Ressence’s own ROCS 1 module inside. Regular readers will be well known with the ‘beyond hands’ display of the brand. The watches by industrial designer Benoit Mintiens have gained an enthusiastic following since the first one was launched in 2010.

For those who are not familiar with Ressence’s watches: the Ressence design strips traditional hands and a bezel. The time and day of the week are shown via a patented ROCS module (Ressence Orbital Convex System). To be a bit more clear for us mere mortals: there are sub-dials displaying the hours, seconds and days of the week in a continuous revolution around the face.

To be even more precise. There are four hands that do not move, the rings around them do. The big outer ring displays the minutes and three smaller indexes display the hours, seconds and day of the week. The short animation of a regular Type 1 shows how it works.

The Ressence Type 1 Mr. Porter in titanium comes on a blue leather strap and the pink gold version comes with a brown leather strap. Both are presented in a special presentation box. The titanium version is already sold out.
