Panerai has made the stylish ‘Italian Diver’ a staple of the watch industry. The Luminor Submersible is one of its gems and the Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic 42 mm is now available with a smaller case, for the first time.

So, for everyone lamenting about the big cases and appearance, now there is something else. Available in both brushed steel and red gold. Or, as the Italians can only say: Acciaio and Oro Rosso.

Both versions have the P.9010 automatic caliber with a power reserve of three days, the time remaining being clearly visible through the sapphire crystal back.

The Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic 42 mm comes in steel or gold

The legibility is high under normal lighting conditions as well as in the dark, thanks to the super-luminova used on the hands and graduated scale. At night – or in the darkness underwater – the minute hand and the stud on the bezel at 12 o’clock glow with a bright blue color rather than the traditional fluorescent green of all the other markers. That way there is always an unmistakable difference if you want to check the dive time.

Before now the there was only a 47-millimeter case available, like this titanium one. That 5 millimeters makes all the difference. Any benched Panerai enthusiasts out there? You can come out of the woodwork please.
