The Eberhard & Co. Chronographe 1887 Automatique is one of two new 1887 models and this one has an automatic movement. The other one is a limited edition (250 pieces) with a hand-wound movement. You have to look twice to spot the differences as they both sport this cool 1930s design. Let’s take a closer look at the automatic.
It has a 41.50-millimeter stainless steel case with either a white or black dial. The polished white dial has matt white counters with black Arabic numerals, however the “12” is shaded in blue. It also has telemeter and minute scales to 1/5th of a second in black surrounding the edge of the dial. In the center there is a spiral tachymeter scale in km/h in blue. The black dial version is the same but reversed. So, with white accents, however no blue accents.
The Eberhard & Co. Chronographe 1887 Automatique has a power reserve of 60 hours
There is a rectangular polished steel button for the chronograph start/stop function at 2 o’clock. Reset and flyback is operated with the coaxial button in the vintage-style crown. The movement is developed in collaboration with the AMT, the high-end sub-brand of Sellita. The result is an automatic Eberhard & Co. caliber EB 380, revealed through its sapphire case back. It offers a total power reserve of 60 hours.
