The Breguet Type XX Chronograph 2067 is a military inspired pilot watch and can be seen as an offspring of the Type XX model from the 1950s and 1960s. These were developed for the French Airforce and became available for private customers / civilians as well. Over the years Breguet produced different models referring to those early XX’s – named by the French Ministry of Air when they asked watch brands to pitch a chronograph for their Air Force in the early 1950s.

This new model, which Breguet calls the ‘civilian version’, is dressed in a 42-millimeter stainless steel case with an enhanced black dial. The bezel is fluted and bidirectional, with engraved numerals. The dial has three sub counters displaying of a 15-minute totalizer at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour totalizer at 6 o’clock and the running seconds placed at 9 o’clock. These sub counters are sized differently for a more vigorous look.

The Breguet Type XX Chronograph 2067 mixes vintage looks with a modern movement

The hands, Arabic numerals and the triangle on the bezel are filled with an ivory-colored super-luminova for a more vintage look, but what happened with the date? It is squeezed between 4 and 5 o’clock, and the 4 and 5 are partly cut off by the sub counter above it. That provides a less vigorous look.

The Breguet Type XX Chronograph 2067 is powered by an in-house caliber 728 with a power reserve of 60 hours. It is an automatic movement with flyback chronograph, silicon-made balance-spring, escape wheel and pallet-lever for more accuracy, and visible through the sapphire crystal case back.
