Next generation Carrera, that’s the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 Rose Gold. You can either love it or hate it, but CEO Jean-Claude Biver is getting TAG Heuer ready for the future. The head of watchmaking at LVMH is responsible for some impressive successes (Omega, Zenith, Hublot) and is now working on TAG Heuer.
Over the last couple of years, they are steadily modernizing the collection, together with some vintage inspired pieces to appeal to the current retro trend. The best example of the ‘new’ TAG Heuer is without a doubt the Carrera Heuer 01 that was introduced in 2015. Or is it the TAG Heuer Connected Rose Gold?
Rather than getting a traditional case, TAG Heuer has chosen for a modular design. It makes for something different, but this way it’s easier to introduce a new model. Change the lugs, the bezel and/or the pushers and you got some news on your hands.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 Rose Gold is partly gold and partly titanium
With the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 Rose Gold it is a combination of a titanium center, pink gold lugs, black titanium chronograph pushers, a pink gold crown and pink gold hands and indexes.
If you like the look and don’t mind some modern touches, the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 Rose Gold makes for a rather good-looking high-end chronograph. Even more so with the new anthracite skeleton dial instead of the black skeleton dial on the previous version.
The Heuer 01 also changes its rubber strap for a tan one. A calfskin leather strap with an embossed TAG Heuer shield. This is a bit too much for our tastes, a little on the nose. Maybe a clear leather strap next year?
