After two gold versions the Rolex Perpetual 1908 Platinum Ice Blue is a new addition to the also relatively new 1908 line. 1908 is a reference to the year Rolex was registered as a trademark. And the 1908 line was launched last year to replace the not so popular Cellini line. Which is still strange as all other Rolex models are. Back to the 1908.
The 39-millimeter model is available in yellow gold or white gold, with either a black or white dial. This new 1908 adds platinum to the options for the case, combined with a bright ice blue dial. Where the earlier version had a plain matt dial, this ice blue has a guilloche rice-grain motif in a rosette-like pattern. It makes it more alive as a whole. At 6 small seconds and the text “Superlative Chronometer” to indicate that is has Rolex’ version of COSC quality.
The Rolex Perpetual 1908 Platinum Ice Blue has a power reserve of 66 hours
Powering the new Perpetual 1908 is the automatic Rolex caliber 7140 developed especially for this collection. The entire mechanism is visible at its case back along with its skeletonized oscillating weight, Syloxi hairspring in silicon and Paraflex shock absorbers. The movement has a power reserve of 66 hours.
The Rolex Perpetual 1908 Platinum Ice Blue comes on a matt brown or black alligator leather strap with calfskin lining. It is secured by a platinum double folding clasp.
