It is always nice to see a special edition for a good cause bring in some real money. Oris introduces the Oris Staghorn Restoration Limited Edition to help preserve the world’s coral reefs. Sure, it is almost an exact copy of the Oris Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition II, now with orange instead of yellow accents and a bit smaller. And with another good cause.
The Swiss watch brand has partnered up with the Coral Restoration Foundation. The Coral Restoration Foundation has already planted 22,502 new corals and is planning an additional 40,000. The Staghorn Restoration Limited Edition is part of the Aquis collection and therefore a full-on dive watch. It has a multi-piece stainless steel case and screw-in security crown with crown protection. Of course, it has a uni-directional bezel and the watch is water-resistant to 1000 feet / 300 meters.

The watch distinguishes itself with a number of features. Like the dark blue dial for example in combination with the orange second hand, day and date window. Orange is chosen with a reason. It refers to the orange color of the Staghorn coral. In addition, it’s also one of the best colors for low-light conditions like you find underwater. The Staghorn coral is also embossed on the case back.
The automatic Oris caliber 735 also shows the week days on the inner circle of the dial. An orange marker on a disc behind the circle lights-up the correct day. The power-reserve is 38 hours.
