This new Omega Seamaster Diver 300m Commander’s Watch is dedicated to James Bond. But Ian Fleming’s James Bond originally wore a Rolex. In Dr. No it became specific with a Rolex Submariner that Sean Connery got from producer Cubby Broccoli’s wrist. After Rolex declined to supply the production with a watch.
This all changed from 1995 on when 007 starts to wear an Omega. We can thank the head of watches at LVMH, Jean-Claude Biver, for this. Before he made Zenith, Hublot and now TAG Heuer great again he worked his magic at Omega. The first Omega was worn in Goldeneye, the iconic Seamaster, and 007 wears this watch up until today.
The Omega Seamaster Diver 300m Commander’s Watch comes in steel or gold
Omega released a limited edition inspired by the red, white and blue colors of the Royal Navy as well as Bond’s Commanders rank. Hence the name of the Omega Seamaster Diver 300m Commander’s Watch.
Special details like a ceramic bezel, white dial and skeletonized hands differ even more from the regular Seamaster. James Bond references in the Seamaster Diver 300m Commander’s Watch can be found on the seconds hand, buckle and the open case back. The Steel Commander’s Watch is limited to 7007 pieces. There is also an 18-carat yellow gold version that is limited to 007 pieces. Or 7 pieces if we forget the marketing speak.
