The Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein Smile-Day is another collaboration between the Swiss watch brand and the French architect and designer. Earlier this year they released the Louis Erard Le Régulateur Tourbillon x Alain Silberstein Black, one of the more affordable tourbillons on the market. And also, with a colorful and playful design. This new Smile-Day model pushes the same design buttons with primary colors connected to clear shapes, inspired by a Bauhaus style with Kandinsky influences.

It’s a mouth full of styles and designs but the result is a very plain and clear timepiece. It has the renewed blue, red and yellow hands for the hours, minutes and seconds. At the 6 o’clock position is a date aperture, and the day indication is replaced by smileys, every day another one. Now you will get the name. We’ve seen something comparable before with the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36 Jigsaw and even with a frog popping-up. Once a month Kermit shows-up at the date location of the Oris ProPilot X Kermit Edition. Apparently, there is a market for watches with funny details.

The Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein Smile-Day has a power reserve of 38 hours

The smileys are rotated by an automatic Sellita caliber SW220-1 with stop-seconds mechanism and day-date. Not the most modern movement, but a very reliable one, offering a power reserve of 38 hours. It also has an élaboré grade which means it belongs to the high-end series of Sellita. At the sapphire back you will see its finish and an open-worked oscillating weight with black lacquered Louis Erard symbol.

The Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein Smile-Day comes on a grey nylon strap with micro-blasted grade 2 titanium buckle. The watch is limited to 178 pieces.
