This Longines Avigation Watch Type A-7 1935 is a contemporary replica of a watch Longines provided from 1935 to U.S. Army pilots. The name is an amalgam of “aviation” and “navigation”. Type A-7 is the classification the U.S. Army gave to watches that meet the strict standards of precision, quality and legibility before being accepted for military use.
In 2012 Longines launched a 49-millimeters Avigation Watch Type A-7 with a black dial. This new model is a continuation of the Avigation Watch Type A7 models.

Most special to these models is the dial. With this new one it is angled at 40º to the right, enabling pilots to read the time without having to release his aircraft’s control yoke. So, one must wear this model on the left wrist.
Inside the 41-millimeter single push-piece chronograph is Longines caliber L788.2. An exclusive to Longines and based on the ETA A08.L11 caliber. It powers the hours, minutes, small seconds, and date and, in addition, the chronograph. A column wheel drives the chronograph and it is operated by a mono-pusher embedded in the off-center crown. The caliber offers a power-reserve of 54 hours.
