The Laurent Ferrier Classic Moon in Blue or Silver is the first moon phase complication of the Swiss brand. It is an expansion of the Classic collection and is introduced with two different case materials each with a different color. And besides the moon phase it also sports an annual calendar that recognizes 30- and 31-day months. So, correction is only necessary once a year, on the 1st of March.
The 40-millimeter case comes in red gold or polished stainless steel, with a thickness of 12.90 millimeters. The red gold showcases a vertical satin-finished silver dial, the steel version has a grey-blue opaline dial. The date is indicated by hand, pointing to the outer ring of the dial. The days and months are in a bevelled aperture at the 12 o’clock position.
Moon phase from aventurine glass
The moon phase is combined with the small seconds at 6 o’clock and has an aventurine glass dial. It is made by Murano artisans and engraved to create the moon’s shape and stars around it, with hand-applied white paint for the details. Then the moon and stars are hand-filled with super-luminova, fired, and again engraved for details on the moon’s surface.
On top of the moon phase sub dial is a translucid petrol blue enamel applique to show the moon’s cycles. The moon phase on both dial color options is the same, the color of the hands and indices are matching the dial color. The red gold has been given a more classic dial design while the dark blue is more sportive.
The Laurent Ferrier Classic Moon in Blue or Silver has a power reserve of 80 hours
A hand-wound Laurent Ferrier caliber LF126.02 runs all the functions, with a power reserve indicator at the back. For sure, the back is transparent which also reveals the bridges adorned with rhodium-treated Côtes de Genève decoration. The movement provides a power reserve of 80 hours.
