The Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Chronograph Moon is the brand’s new high-end timepiece that combines a chronograph with a moon phase. The Duometre is inspired by a JLC pocket watch from 1881 (calibre 19/20RMSMI) in which they used two barrels and two gear trains. This leaded to a new model line in 2007 called Duometre, with watches that have two independent barrels and two independent gear trains linked with a single escapement.

This new Duometre Chronograph Moon comes with a 42.5-millimeter pink gold case and silver colored dial or platinum case with copper colored dial. The thickness to house all the mechanics is 14.5 millimeters. The sectored dial has three sub dials and a tachymeter scale at the edge, a signature feature of the Duometre. The time and a day/night indicator is at 9 o’clock and the chronograph 12-hour / 60-minute counter with a moon phase is at 3 o’clock. The seconde foudroyante is at 6 o’clock.

What is seconde foudroyante?

The seconde foudrayante is a (small) seconds indicator with a hand that rotates every second. Which means it can show intervals smaller than one second. Here the seconde foudroyante is on a sub dial with a 1/6th of a second scale.

At the sides of the seconde foudroyante are two power reserve indicators for each of the two barrels. Both barrels are wound by the crown. Forwards for the barrel that provides power for the timekeeping function and backwards for the second barrel, which provides power for the complications.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Chronograph Moon has a power reserve of 50 hours

At the heart of the watch is a newly developed hand-wound Jaeger-LeCoultre caliber 391. You can admire it through the sapphire case back, and partly through the open parts of the dial. It has open-worked bridges, two open barrels on top and high-end finishing. The power reserve is 50 hours.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Chronograph Moon comes on a black alligator leather strap with small scale alligator lining. And this is secured by a pink gold or platinum pin buckle.
