The Edox Delfin Fleet 1650 Limited Edition is inspired by a 17th century Dutch trade ship. It is called The Tijger, Dutch for ‘tiger’, was part of the East India Trading Company, and left the port of Batavia, Indonesia, in early the 1650s. However, the fleet has never reached its destination. The Tijger is beached after a heavy storm, the crew is rescued by neighboring ships.
Edox sponsors an expedition to find The Tijger and of course this is a great excuse for a special edition. Or even two. One in bronze and one in stainless steel.
The Edox Delfin Fleet 1650 Limited Edition beats with a Sellita based automatic
The Edox Delfin model forms the basis of these limited editions. A vintage interpretation of their icon from 1961. High-tech for its time because of the double case back and double gasket. This makes it more waterproof and provides more resistance against shocks.
The Edox Delfin Fleet 1650 Limited Edition is available in 300 steel editions and in 200 bronze pieces. The bronze one is our favorite, without a doubt. Made of the same material as the East India Trading Company used in their ship clocks and canons. In a time where we see all kinds of futuristic materials like texalium, titanium ceramic and tantalum, bronze is something different. And with its fair share of pro’s: anti-magnetic, strong and a great patina.
