In 2013 Chopard started The Journey to Sustainable Luxury. It is an agreement between the South American NGO Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM) and the Swiss luxury brand. With that agreement Chopard was the first watch and jewelry company supporting gold mining communities towards achieving Fairmined certification. This label ensures that the gold used for jewelry and watches is extracted in a responsible manner for the miners and the environment. This type of gold is a little bit more expensive but a premium in addition to the fixed gold price is reinvested in community projects. So, this Chopard L.U.C XPS Twist QF Fairmined only has fair-mined gold.
It’s a dress watch, without a doubt. The highly finished 18K rose gold case measures 40 millimeters and has the characteristic vertical satin-brush on the side of the case. And it is slim. Very slim. Only 7.2 millimeters thick. But still thick enough to house Chopard’s L.U.C caliber 96.09-L. This is a self-winding movement with a power-reserve of 65 hours due to its two barrels.

The dial has a stamped sunburst texture in slate grey, inspired by the raw composition of the gold nuggets extracted from mines. It’s a good color match with the rose gold case.
