The Bovet Recital 28 Prowess 1 is a technical masterpiece that resolves the problem of daylight saving time (DST) in the world’s time zones. It’s going to be a little complicated but once you have adjusted this watch, nothing can go wrong anymore, no matter where you are. So, how does it work?

The main attraction of this watch are the time zones on the lareg sub dial around the open-worked dial. Worldwide we recognize four different times: UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), American Summertime (AST), Europe and American Summertime (EAS), and European Wintertime (EWT). During certain periods, one of those four applies to the time zone you are in. Now the trick is to set the DST indicator at the 8 o’clock position to the correct daylight saving time, which can be done with the crown.

Setting the daylight saving time for a time zone

To know what you are doing with the crown, there is crown position indicator at 3 o’clock. It shows winding, world time setting and time setting. Pushing the crown rotates each individual world time cylinder 90 degrees, so every time zone can be individually set for each of the four time periods of the year.

There are 25 time zones on the dial of the Bovet Recital 28 Prowess 1. So wherever you are, just provide the correct DST and the problem is solved. If you know whether UTC, AST, EAS or EWT applies for the zone where you are in, that is…

The Bovet Recital 28 Prowess 1 has a power reserve of 10 days

The DST solution comes from an impressive hand-wound Bovet caliber R28-70-00X with a 10-day power reserve. As it also features a one-minute flying tourbillon with seconds indication, and a perpetual calendar with leap year correction. The date, leap year indication (just above the month), and the month are on rollers, the day is displayed on a disc. At the back of the watch you can admire the movement, including a power reserve indicator and detailed finishing.

The 46.3-millimeter case of the Bovet Recital 28 Prowess 1 comes in red gold, platinum, or titanium, on a leather strap. Bovet will only make 8 pieces per year.
