The Urwerk UR-100V LightSpeed is the latest addition to the UR-100V collection. Since the brand’s debut in the 1990s, they have become renowned for crafting watches that seamlessly blend traditional craftsmanship with futuristic and unconventional aesthetics. Naming the watch “LightSpeed” suggests it’s linked to time, space, and light, all packed into one timepiece.

This LightSpeed has a case of black carbon measuring 43 x 51.73 millimeters with a thickness of 14.55 millimeters. The black carbon is a 54-layer ThinPly carbon, a carbon fiber composite that consists of numerous thin layers, here stacked together. The watch features a 3D planetarium on the dial which incorporates a miniature three-dimensional representation of celestial bodies. It also depicts the travel of the sun’s light which takes different amounts of time to reach each planet in our solar system.

The LightSpeed not only travels through space but also tells time in a unique way. Instead of using traditional hands, it has satellites on a circle. One satellite shows the hours, and the other shows the minutes. When an hour satellite completes its 60-minute journey, the next one for the next hour takes its place in front of the minutes marker.

Powering this timepiece is an automatic Urwerk caliber 12.02 delivering a power reserve of 48 hours. It comes on a textured rubber strap secured with a folding clasp.
