The new Tissot Sideral S Automatic goes back to 1968 when Tissot developed the prototype of their Sideral. This 2023 version is fully modernized and comes in three striking colors: yellow, blue and red. And to make it even more colorful you can buy additional rubber straps in more colors. Or just buy the black strap.

The first Sideral series is launched in 1969, a diver with a case made from fiberglass – a world premiere. Which means it is light, and it is a bit poppy when you bought it in bright yellow. Tissot is aiming for young people who want a sports watch, who want to be trendy. The Sideral S, announced in 1971, gets a yellow rubber strap to make it even more ‘young’. This strap also features a unique fastening system that would become a signature thing of the Sideral collection.

The Tissot Sideral S Automatic comes close to the original from 1969

But it’s not only about colors. So let’s start with the new case, which is made of forged carbon and stainless steel: it’s hard and light, and for this price range it’s a good offer as well. The black dial has a green and red regatta time, a yellow, blue or grey minute track and reads perfect. The unidirectional PVD bezel comes in black with a double regatta graduation, it has a screw-down crown to offer a 300-meter water resistance and the back is transparent.

Inside the Tissot Sideral S Automatic is the Powermatic 80 movement with Nivachron balance spring and a new Tissot skeletonized rotor. This Navichron is a patented alloy developed by the Swatch Group together with Audemars Piguet. This alloy is a sort of titanium to make the movement more resistant against magnetism. The heart of this movement is based on the ETA caliber C07.111 that is based on the ETA caliber 2824-2. Tissot makes adjustments to the ETA caliber to boost the power reserve to 80 hours, amongst other adjustments.
