When a watch is Swiss made, it is often seen as a quality stamp, a guarantee for quality. Which is not necessarily true. A watch movement is considered Swiss if the movement has been assembled in Switzerland and the movement has been inspected by the manufacturer in Switzerland and the components of Swiss manufacture account for at least 50 percent of the total value, without taking into account the cost of assembly. From 1 January 2017, the Swiss law set the minimum at 60 percent.

Again, it is not a guarantee for quality, it is more a Swiss law to protect watch industry. Just like champagne can only be called champagne if it comes from that area in France.
