The Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster Big Eye Yachting is the latest version of Nivada’s Chronomaster. It’s a water-resistant chronograph that was introduced in 1963 and can be considered as one of Nivada Grenchen’s all-time hits. And this new one is made in collaboration with Analog:Shift, which is the vintage division of the Watches of Switzerland Group, to boost worldwide retail outlets.

This new version has a 38-millimeter 316L stainless steel case with a white dial featuring two sub-dials. One for the 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock. The silvery hands and markers also help the dial to look clean and uncluttered which makes easy to read. All of these are set under a double domed sapphire crystal glass.

The noticeable two-tone blue and orange small counter is a feature originally designed for yachting (as a yachting timer), where the name Chronomaster ‘Big Eye’ Yachting comes from. These seconds count down the time before the start of a yacht race. The original Chronomaster from 1963, also 38 millimeters, has the same looks, only with a black dial and plexi glass.

The original is a hand-winder, inside this Big Eye Yachting is also a hand-wound movement. It is a Sellita SW510 M BH B caliber which delivers a power reserve of 63 hours and drives the hours, minutes, small seconds and chronograph.
