The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Regulateur is a carousel-styled magical timepiece that shows the hours, minutes and seconds on separate positions. The movement is also connected to a flying tourbillon and the result is a rotating spectacle that can even be viewed from the side of the watch.
It’s all housed in a 43-millimeter rose gold frame-like case with open lugs and with two sapphire panes. One single block of sapphire forming the case band and one large domed sapphire crystal on top. It enables the wearer to admire the tech from different angles. Also underneath.
How does the Astronomia Regulateur work?
The movement of the Jacob & Co. Astronomia Regulateur is fixed in the middle. From there it drives a central ax that is connected to three satellites, each with their own specific function. And each rotating on its own ax. The first satellite is the flying tourbillon that revolves on two axes, both in one minute. The second is the hours indication, and the third is the minutes indication. Both on a transucent blue sub dial.
Apart from the satellites, the movement also rotates the seconds disc, however counterclockwise. The seconds hand is fixed on the back plate and points directly to the running seconds on the disc. The result is a permanent moving construction in different directions.
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Regulateur has a power reserve of 48 hours
The rotating magics come from a hand-wound Jacob & Co. caliber JCAM56 that provides a power reserve of 48 hours. It moves the central, vertical rotating platform for the satellites, spinning clockwise in 60 seconds. It also moves the seconds disc counterclockwise every 60 seconds and it drives the tourbillon that also rotates every 60 seconds.
Furthermore, the movement has a constant force device in the gear train. It loads with a frequency of 1/6th of a second and assures a prefect “spread” of the energy coming from the barrels. And the movement has two differentials, one for the hours and one for the minutes.
For sure this Jacob & Co. is a limited edition
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Regulateur comes on a blue alligator leather strap with a rose gold deployment buckle. The watch is limited to 250 pieces, which is, given the price, quite a lot. Nevertheless, all the owners will enjoy watching this high-tech masterpiece every minute of the day.
