Chopard’s creation for Only Watch 2023 is this subtle dress watch: the Chopard L.U.C 1860 Only Watch Edition. It’s design comes from the first LUC 1860 model, that was launched in 1997. This new edition is a one-off, like all watches gifted to Only Watch.

This dress watch is featured in a 36.5-millimeter Lucent steel case. Lucent steel is Chopard speak for stainless steel that is recycled (for 80%). As Chopard is very keen on using fair and eco-friendly materials and production methods where possible. For a dress watch it is not very slim: 8.20 millimeter thick, but it also gives the case some robustness.

The Chopard L.U.C 1860 Only Watch Edition has a power reserve of 65 hours

The ice green dial is made from solid white gold, and the color represents green icebergs, or “jade bergs” as scientists sometimes call them. It also kind of symbolizes melting glaciers. Well, a nice story, but let’s say the dial has a unique color. The center of the dial is hand-guilloched in a radiating pattern. This is surrounded by a satin-brushed chapter ring. At 6 o’clock there is the small seconds sub dial.

The Chopard L.U.C 1860 Only Watch Edition is driven by the L.U.C caliber 96.40-L, a self-winding movement with a power reserve of 65 hours. The bridges are chamfered and adorned with a Côtes de Genève motif, all to be admired through the transparent case back.
