The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold Selfwinding 37 mm Yellow Gold is a new version of the Royal Oak – one out of many. With this version the design is inspired by an age-old jewelry technique that was initially used in Florence and reconceptualized by jewelry designer Carolina Bucci. And it has been used for the Royal Oak since 2016.

The fully frosted 18-carat yellow gold timepiece is paired with a smoke gold dial displaying a sunburst finish pattern. The yellow gold case is 37 millimeters and the yellow gold continues down to the bracelet. All completely furnished with a so called “hammer finish”, or in AP speak: Frosted Gold.

How does AP create this Frosted Gold?

To obtain this frosted gold effect a diamond-tipped tool is used to carefully hammer little holes that give the gold a sparkle effect. It also done on the golden dial, here with a smoke effect. This smoke effect has been applied using a black spray varnish that makes a contrast with the yellow gold.

All is done entirely by hand with a pen-like device for a refined coating. A good contrast with the yellow gold hour markers and Royal Oak hands with super-luminova.

The Royal Oak Frosted Gold has a power reserve of 60 hours

Powering this timepiece is the automatic Audemars Piguet caliber 5900 which was originally launched in 2022. It has a thickness of 3.9 millimeters delivering a 60-hour power reserve. The actual mechanisms is revealed through its sapphire case back as well as its signature 22-carat pink gold oscillating weight.

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold Selfwinding 37 mm Yellow Gold comes on a hammered 18-carat yellow gold bracelet. And it is secured with an AP folding clasp.
