British IndyCar Series race car driver Max Chilton is one of Armin Strom’s brand ambassadors and their partnership lead to this rather large new model. The Armin Strom Max Chilton Edition Edge Double Barrel measures 46.8 millimeters. Which is 3.4 millimeters larger than the series this model is based on, the Element series with a diameter of 43.4 millimeters.
The collaboration between Armin Strom and Max Chilton started a couple of years ago, when Armin Strom was sponsoring the Team Marussia in the Formula 1. Chilton was one of Marussia’s drivers and Armin Strom was developing watches using actual parts from F1 cars. These days Max Chilton drives an IndyCar Chevrolet. And this car formed the inspiration for the Armin Strom Max Chilton Edition Edge Double Barrel.

On the dial side, Chilton’s numeral 8 appears in the small seconds register. Striking blue hour numbers match the blue on his Chevrolet race car. The time indications are positioned slightly off-center, an Armin Strom signature. A special plate on the back is etched with Chilton’s “Max” logo.
Inside you find the ARM16 caliber which features the timepiece’s unusual geometric and angular components. This manufacture hand-wound movement beats at 18,000 vibrations per hour. And it offers a power-reserve of 8 days, thanks to its double going barrel. While the first Armin Strom Edge Double Barrel was almost entirely black – case, lugs, bezel, dial – the Max Chilton Edition uses a non-coated central container and lugs made out of stainless steel. The notched bezel, with 12 cut-outs, is still black PVD-coated.
The Max Chilton Edition comes with a black alligator strap and double-fold clasp in stainless steel PVD black as well as an additional black rubber strap. One more detail: it is limited to just 8 pieces.
