After two green, a blue and a bronze colored Hastroid model, HYT reveals the HYT Hastroid Rainbow, a colorful new edition limited to 15 pieces only. And like all watches of the independent Swiss watchmaker its movement is based on their patented mecanichal-fluidic technology.

What happens under the transparent bonnet is that fluid is pushed through a borosilicate capillary tube by the mechanics of the watch in such a precise way that the filling level of the tube corresponds with the hours of time. When it reaches the end of the tube, the fluid goes back to the beginning and starts filling again when time passes. The retrograde principle.

The HYT Hastroid Rainbow will obviously be a collector’s item

The case measures 48 x 52.3 millimeters and is constructed of multiple layers of carbon fiber combined with black DLC-coated titanium. The tube with black fluid showing the hours is enriched by a rainbow colored hour track. These colors are applied on a grille using a tinted lacquer of Zapon, which is a single-component lacquer mainly used to provide long-term protection for dials with galvanic treatment. A white base varnish is applied for more brightness after which the colored layers are sprayed on by hand in extremely thin layers. When the black fluid passes the colors, it is tinted in the shade of the color it passes. And that shows you the hours.

The minute track is executed in bright violet, and the central minute hand is purple providing a perfect contrast with the partly black coated movement. The left very small sub-dial indicates the seconds, the right sub-dial provides the remaining power reserve.

All this spectacle is driven by the hand-wound 501-CM caliber which gives a power reserve of 72 hours. The HYT Hastroid Rainbow comes on a matching purple strap with a black-coated titanium pin buckle and has a retail price of CHF 75’000. So the prices in euros, dollars and pound are just a rough indication based on today’s exchange rates.
