At HYT they are not watchmakers but hydro-mechanical horlogiers. A bit much perhaps, but why not? Their high-tech models deserve something different than just watchmakers. Their newest creation is the HYT H1 Alinghi, made to honor the partnership with the Alinghi yacht racing team. The third collaboration after the H4 in 2015 and H2 in 2016.

Grégory Dourde, HYT ceo: “It is the most technically advanced of the models resulting from our partnership with Alinghi.” There are some pretty cool sailing references to be found on the watch, but first let’s talk about fluids.

Because this is a feature that is a must for a HYT Watch. Metal bellows build up pressure, driven by the movement and as a result it pushes fluid through the tube up until a certain hour that is seen on the outer ring of the dial. A specialty of HYT. With the H1 Alinghi, we also find a small seconds indication at the 12 o’clock position.

The HYT H1 Alinghi is limited to 20 pieces

The liquid is pure deep black. To make it easier to read in the dark, HYT has set it on a channel filled with super-luminova. At night, the translucent part of the capillary reflects the light, enabling the time display, which remains opaque, to be read.

In terms of materials, both HYT and Alinghi favor lightness and rigidity. The piece has offset lugs and a crown guard made from folded and forged carbon. These elements are designed and manufactured outside of the watch, then assembled onto its titanium middle.

Further sailing influences can be found on the dial. All of which has been designed specifically for the HYT H1 Alinghi. The small seconds sub-dial is in the shape of a mainsail furler. The power-reserve at 3 o’clock is shaped like a winch and the jumper at 6 o’clock bears the Alinghi logo.

The HYT H1 Alinghi comes on a rugged and reinforced fabric strap and is limited to 20 pieces.
