When Chopard launches a model with L.U.C in its name you know it will be a precious, mechanical time piece. L.U.C refers to Chopard’s founder Louis-Ulysse Chopard who started the company in 1860. Although the brand carries his name, L.U.C pays him an extra tribute with haute horlogerie. Like this Chopard L.U.C Lunar One Platinum.

In 2005 Chopard launched the first Lunar One in rose gold (reference 161894-5001) and platinum (reference 161894-9001). Both versions were limited to 250 pieces (you can see them below the specs). The gold version with a more conservative dial, the platinum version had a more remarkable, innovative dial. This new Chopard L.U.C Lunar One Platinum follows a bit of both recipes. The galvanic blue dial with off-centered sunray satin-finish has a sparkling contrast with the platinum case.

The Chopard L.U.C Lunar One Platinum is limited to 100 pieces

Looks are one thing, the techniques are the other most important thing. The Chopard L.U.C Lunar One Platinum still runs with Chopard’s caliber 96.13-L, a perpetual self-winding calendar with micro-rotor. Which is why the movement is only 6 millimeters thick while most movements with these kind of complications are much thicker. The beautiful finish can be seen through the transparent case back.

The 96.13-L features a perpetual calendar with big date, indication of the day, month, day/night and leap-year cycle. The moon phase is extremely accurate. The moon phase needs adjustment only once every 122 years as there will be a one-day time lag compared with the actual moon.

Compared to the former versions this Chopard L.U.C Lunar One Platinum has a very attractive price. And it is limited to 100 pieces.
